A slow start and a couple of players short of the required 11 saw the Baltic boys go one down early on in the first half. The Barclays striker broke through the Baltic’s back line to slot into the bottom corner on what was one of many dubious off side calls by the ‘special’ ref. As the half went on the BEFC managed to get settled and with a full 11 on the pitch the boys pressed on and gradually took control of the game with Jim Green (Clarksons) and Mikey Oliver (Howe Robinson) causing the Barclays defence all sorts of trouble with some intricate play.
The second half was dominated by the Baltic as they pressed on to get back into the game which ultimately left the back four exposed all too often. Luckily the Baltic’s keeper Ben Regan (AM Nomikos) was in fine form with numerous stunning stops keeping the Baltic in the game. The shot stopper then turned his hand to goal creator with a delightful long ball chipped over the Barclays high line putting Mikey clean through for him to slot home. At 1-1 there was only really one team likely to win…the Baltic pushed on but some over-playing of the ball and some woeful finishing meant the BEFC were unable to take all 3 points.
Man of the match goes to Ben Regan for a string of excellent saves keeping the Baltic Exchange in the game.
