For the second week in a row the Baltic Exchange were held to a draw against the current league champions. In an excellent first half display the Baltic created several chances stemming from some great play between Andrea Bologna (Howe Rob) and the Baltic’s newest recruit Nat Twiggs (Pacific Basin). The Baltic’s early pressure was rewarded by a fine volleyed strike by Andrea in the top corner to give the BEFC a deserved lead. Bloomberg were on the ropes for the remainder of the half, with the Clarksons combination of Guy Bartleet and Max Allen cutting Bloomberg open with every chance. Guy hitting the underside of the bar late on in the half after his goal bound effort was blocked on the line.
The second half was more of the same until the last five minutes when the champions resorted to a long ball game which paid off. Two minutes from time Bloomberg piled its quartet of 7ft+ players into the box for what was their final chance, a corner was whipped in causing absolute havoc in the penalty area, resulting in a scrappy undeserved equaliser. It felt like two points dropped instead of one point gained, but there are plenty of positives to take into next week’s game.
